Allergies, running eyes, stuffy nose , scratchy throat-- none of it is very fun. Not only do you feel sick, you look sick, too. Spring brings green grass, planted crops, trees blooming, and wind. This means if you suffer from allergies, it is pretty much a guarantee that you will suffer. There are a lot of medicines to mask the symptoms, but when they wear off you begin to suffer again.
There are beauty tricks to help you look like you are not suffering. If you have running, watery eyes as a symptom of your allergies, there are two easy things you can do to help you look your best.
The first is getting yourself an eye primer. You should have this anyway, but if you don't, you should now. Primer is a base for your makeup. It protects your skin against makeup and environmental toxins. It helps the pigment of your makeup stay longer. The eye primer will help your makeup last instead of run down your face.
The second is waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara will stay on through your running, watery eyes. If you decide to use waterproof mascara, you better make sure you wash your face every night. It will clump up and build on itself if you don't wash it off at the end of the day.
Stuffy noses always seems to look swollen and uncomfortable. Not only that, but your nostrils are also red and tender. You can make your nose look smaller (or its normal size) with face contouring. This means you use light and dark makeup on your face to create shadows and highlights.
With a swollen nose, I would put the light conceal down the center and the dark conceal on the side of your nose. This technique is used for more than your nose. You can shadow a large forehead and make it smaller. The same technique can be used for your cheeks and jaw line. Contouring your face was a Hollywood secret for years and years.
Lastly, a scratchy throat means you're always drinking water and sucking on lozenges or candy to relieve your dry mouth. Lip gloss will not hold up all day. It might last an hour without reapplying it. But a lip stain should last eight hours without another application. But when allergies strike, the lip stain can last at least four hours. Lips finish the face. They make your eyes stand out, your cheeks look raised, and your smile super bright. Lip stains are not lipstick. They are drier. You need to take your time applying them. Once you apply lip stain, it is very hard to remove. Plus if you mess up, it takes makeup remover to fix.
Spring is on its way, so do what it takes to feel and look good this Spring!
