ABOUT TAMI

Tami has been passionate about people, service, and beauty her whole life. She was drawn to hairstyling at an early age. As a little girl in California, she would do her sister’s chores so she could play with her hair. After graduating from high school, Tami dutifully went off to college. She soon realized that beauty school was the right school for her.

Tami has spent over 20 years as a professional hairstylist studying beauty challenges and finding their solutions. She continues to take classes and trainings offered by the industry leaders and brands such as Phillip Wilson. She has owned and operated a successful salon since 2009. She was a platform artist where she performed and taught her fellow cosmetologists at beauty industry conventions. Her first book, The Truth About beUty and U, was published in 2018.

As a beauty expert, Tami had a monthly segment on a local TV morning show that was broadcast across 3 western states for 1 1/2 years where she taught beauty tips and grooming techniques to her audience. Tami also shared her expertise over the air waves on local radio for 4 years. The year following the launch of her 30-minute weekly morning show segment, the radio station's ratings rose from #2 to #1 by capturing the attention of the female talk radio audience. Her radio presence expanded to multiple radio stations over 3 states. Two local newspapers also sought Tami's beauty expertise. She wrote a popular, recurring beauty column, "Tami's Tips," for both of them.

Contributing her talents to strengthen her community is important to Tami. She organized and produced an all-day Women's Fashion show and appreciation fair at the regional shopping mall. She worked with mall retailers such as Dillard's and Macy's to create a fashion show with the goal of showing that women of every shape and size are beautiful. The fair included guest lectures on topics of interest to women and was the first event of its kind in her area. Tami also worked with Haven, a last chance homeless shelter for women. Three homeless women received makeovers as part of the event, all of whom progressed in their lives and none were ever homeless again. The event raised $30,000 in money and goods donated to the Family Crisis Center and Haven.

TAMI'S LIFE & COMMUNITY

Tami worked with the City of Rexburg to co-organize the first Miracle Makeover contest, which included a new wardrobe, hair style, dental work, and dermatology services. The contest ran for 5 consecutive years. When local teacher pay was cut, Tami sought out donations from other community businesses to help alleviate the financial impact on teachers. She has participated in school fundraiser events, judged local beauty pageants, and has been a frequent advisor to pageant contestants on beauty and grooming.

Tami presented at TEDx and TEDx Youth talks on the topic of beUtofullness (We Are All Exactly, Differently the Same). You are invited to view them on our Videos page.

In addition to Tami's efforts and expertise being appreciated and helpful for so many people, her work has also been acknowledged by several organizations. The interest in her book during the first week of its release was so high that:

  1. Tami was invited to attend the International Book Conference.
  2. Tami was honored to be nominated as Idaho Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in multiple years.
  3. Her salon was highlighted by the Better Business Bureau.
  4. Tami was the grateful recipient of a Distinguished Service Award from the local public school district.

Tami’s life is beUtofull because her roles of wife, mother, daughter, neighbor, friend, and volunteer are the priorities she has honored and treasured her whole life. As much as she loves beauty and the fashion industry, teaching the true principles of beauty is more important because as a mother, friend, and neighbor, she wants those she loves to have a true perspective and embrace their own beUtofullness life.
