Shampoo: Store vs Professional
Does it really make a difference if I buy my shampoo in the salon or the grocery store? I am getting my hair clean, right? I just can't see wasting my time and money on shampoo. These are questions I am asked all the time. You want to know if there is a difference? Yes, there is a big difference.
If you are spending the same price for your shampoo as a happy meal or worse, bottled water, you are harming your appearance. Shampoo and conditioner are the base of great hair. Buying shine spray, root pump, wax, and more will not make the hair look healthy and shiny. What it does is make your hair styled. Healthy, shining hair is what everyone wants. In fact 97% of the world agreed that shiny healthy hair is what they want to have and see. However, we buy our product from the grocery store.
Let me explain the difference between grocery store shampoo and salon shampoo. The biggest difference is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. This ingredient is harsh bubbles that remove grease. This ingredient is normally one of the first 3 ingredients found in big box stores and grocery store brand shampoos. You can also find it in your dish soap. In fact, most dish soaps and cheap shampoos are pretty much the same. Not only that, but this same cheap grease remover is also found in your driveway de-greasing product.
This means when you use cheap shampoo you are blowing out the cuticle of your hair and making it easier for you to absorb environmental toxins like grease, smoke, and dirt. Which means you have to wash your hair more, and it is harder to make it look clean and shiny. Grocery store brands are smart. They give you a product that doesn't work all day then make it cheap and make you use it every day in large volume. Good business for them, bad for looking great easily.
Professional product is expensive at first but (if used right) is about $6-7 dollars a month. With professional product you are using something that is made for your hair and made to help you look beautiful for more than a day. The biggest problem I see with professional shampoo is we abuse it. We use too much to wash our hair. It's concentrated! A quarter-size amount is the most you need to use unless you have super long, super thick hair. Not only does a little go a long way, but you will also have to do your hair less. This saves you time and money. Professional product feeds the hair and protects against environmental toxins so your hair can look shiny and healthy longer.
There is a difference. I just want you to know the truth. Less money and time spent looking great gives you more money and time to be great. Be great and remember true beauty starts with a smile.
