Do you love DIY's? You know, the do it yourself pins, columns, shows, YouTube channels, magazine and articles. Are you constantly teaching yourself to be amazing at everything? Are you expecting your projects to be as fast or as easy as it looks on TV, YouTube, Pinterest, or magazines? Are you feeling empowered or overwhelmed? Most likely you are feeling overwhelmed. When you start a project you think, "This is only going to take me at most an hour." But in reality what you hope to be a 15 minute project or at most hour project, has taken half or all your day and patience. Now that it is done, you feel relieved but can't stop staring at all the flaws. SOUND FAMILIAR? There is so much information literally in the palm of our hands. The problem is the 15 minute tutorial isn't a one year course on all the information the "expert" is teaching you.
I am telling you to STOP!!!!! I am giving you permission to be good at a lot of things, but stop trying to be good at everything. It is impossible. With so much information literally a click of the button away, it seems we put unrealistic expectations on ourselves. I am also telling you that everyone struggles! NO one knows all the information about every subject. It is impossible. You want DIY? Find what you like to learn and focus on one thing until you feel you are comfortable, then learn another. Do not overwhelm yourself.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Not everything you read on the internet is true! The place where DIY is the biggest problem is Pinterest. I get bad colors, chemical messes, and bad haircuts from Pinterest DIY's about once a week. I'm asking you when it comes to you being your best self learn from the experts on the internet, but when you are doing things to yourself trust the expert in your life. Your doctor, hairdresser, pharmacist, mechanic, dentist, etc. You know, the real people experts that actually have feelings and can care about your personal needs. We have a ton of instant, shallow information. Do not overwhelm yourself if you struggle. Just trust the people (yes, I said PEOPLE) you have placed in your life to help you.
I'm not telling you to stop watching tutorials, nor am I asking you to give up learning fun, new things. I am just giving you perspective. You can do things all on your own, and they can turn out fantastic. You will feel empowered, but when it comes to health and beauty not everything you read is true. In fact, the majority is half true. You do not have to have a degree to post stuff on the internet. In fact, most anyone can call themselves an expert on the internet and write made up credentials. Please, if you're not sure, ask those PEOPLE you put in your life to help you. This will help you look, feel, and be your most beUtiful self.
